The year 2016 is basically the year of VR. All the big VR companies are planning on dropping a new headset this year. However, PlayStation accidentally leaked, or mistakenly released the price of their VR headset on Amazon Canada.

Everyone was wondering what the price of the Oculus Rift was going to be, and many were shocked by its high price tag. We are still all waiting to see how much the HTC Vive will cost, but won’t have to wait much longer as pre-orders start soon. However, I am kind of doubting it will be as much as the potential asking price of the PlayStation VR.

To be fair, the listing has been taken down and Sony said “This was an error by Amazon, we haven’t announced price for PlayStation VR”, however, it was listed at $1,125.35 CDN, or a little under $800 US. A very unique number to be a random error and quite high.

Although the price has not been confirmed, the listing did have some factual information. It listed a few games that the PlayStation VR will be compatible with, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Rigs, Robinson: The Journey, Battlezone, Gran Turismo Sport, and Tekken 7. It also mentioned that the PlayStation VR will feature a 5.7-inch 120Hz OLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Also, “reduced latency to less than 18ms, about half of what the first PlayStation VR prototype had”.

The prices for all of these VR headsets are quite expensive and even if this Amazon listing was incorrect, I’m sure the PlayStation VR price won’t be too far off once it’s released. For now, I’ll just stick with the much more affordable Samsung Gear VR, but would like to know what you think about the prices of current VR devices? How much is too much for you to pay to try out VR?
