When the year began, TuneIn launched a new radio station called KLRX Radio without ever explaining its creation. It turns out that KLRX Radio was born out of a partnership between TuneIn and luxury automobile brand Lexus. The two are working together on this exclusive radio station to promote the new Lexus RX crossover.

Aside from music, KLRX Radio includes a book club in the form of a podcast series. The Unbounded Book Club asks artists to select their favorite audiobooks to share with the radio station’s listeners. Those artists then record in-depth discussions for listeners to use to further enjoy the experience. Twelve episodes have been recorded altogether with three episodes running weekly.

Artists participating in the Unbounded Book Club include singer St. Vincent, musician Ben Gibbard, and actress Hannah Simone. They’re choosing from over 45,000 audiobooks TuneIn offers its listeners.

Bill Hartman, TuneIn’s Vice President of Partnerships, said this about KLRX Radio:

“We are always looking for new ways to create amazing content that resonates with our listeners and are pleased to team up with Lexus to create a unique radio station unlike anything out there.”

KLRX Radio is scheduled to have a six-week run, and it already started on January 4. So your time to appreciate TuneIn and Lexus’ special radio station is running out quicker than expected. TuneIn will close KLRX Radio on February 14. And you can listen to that radio station and the many others on TuneIn with the service’s apps across the mobile devices and the web.
