MetroPCS, a subsidiary of T-Mobile, has announced another promotion geared at snagging Sprint customers, which is set begin at 9:00 AM on Thursday, January 21. As part of this new deal, current subscribers of Sprint’s Family Share Pack will be given a discount on their monthly bill and a free phone, up to the value of $50, when they switch their line over to MetroPCS and sign up to one of its affordable prepaid tariffs.
As far as reductions go, you’re looking at a 22-48% saving based on local taxes if you register for a $30 per month plan for a single line or a 35-50% discount if you purchase a two-line contract with prices ranging from $50 to $110 per month. However, we’d advise that you calculate exactly how many texts, minutes and gigabytes of data you use per month before locking into a contract with MetroPCS as it’s renowned for charging hefty fees if you go over your quota.
As expected, the range of $50 smartphones on the market is pretty limited, so you’ll only have four to choose from – the LG Leon LTE, the Samsung Core Prime, the Kyocera Hydro Wave or the LG K7. If none of those entry-level handsets take your fancy, you could always put the $50 towards another phone.
MetroPCS has revealed that 5,000 customers have already made the jump from Sprint to its prepaid network. Will you be too? Let us know in the comments section below.
