A new image surfaced on a Vietnamese web site that purports to show a hands on image of the Samsung Galaxy S7. Along with an image that purports to show the actual device and not just a render, the source shares some details about the smartphone and what consumers can expect from Samsung.

The image itself is of the back side of a Galaxy S7 revealing a camera setup consistent with renders and drawings we have seen in the past. One detail that does come through from the image is the pronounced rounding of the back cover as it transitions to meet the metal frame band. The source for this latest leak indicates that the metal frame will be constructed of a magnesium alloy material instead of aluminum.

Consistent with prior information, this source indicates Samsung will produce two variants of the Galaxy S7 with one powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 8890 processor and the other powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The Exynos is 15% faster than the Snapdragon chip according to this source.

The camera sensor is a 12MP unit that has an f/1.7 aperture to help improve low light image capture. That will be enhanced with new BRITECELL technology. The Galaxy S7 will come with quick-charging technology that will charge the phone from 0 to 80% in only 30 minutes. Some level of water resistance will also be present, but it is not clear to what extent although previous reports indicate IP67 certification will be present.
