Leon Rosenzwaig, Director of Product Management at HTC, has just announced that the Taiwanese company is in the midst of rolling out the Marshmallow update to all unlocked variants of the One A9 located in Canada. In addition to bringing the latest build of Android to the handset, the upgrade also bundles February’s security patch, which nips the critical bug that permitted devices to be remotely accessed by a simple text message in the bud.

Great news! Today we are upgrading HTC A9 Canadian unlocked to the latest version M6.0.1 @moversi

The full changelog can be seen below:

  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow core update
  • Battery life improvements
  • Camera feature improvements
  • Addition of Wi-Fi Calling Functionality
  • System enhancements

As you’d expect, the update is being distributed in stages. The first batch of devices will start receiving it today, whilst the upgrade will reach others as late as Wednesday, February 24 It’s worth noting, however, as this is a relatively large piece of firmware, you’ll want to plug your phone into an outlet to prevent it from dying halfway through the download and installation process.
