We’ve been hearing great things about the HTC Vive for quite a while now, with HTC and Valve’s VR headset being demonstrated at the various trade shows in the past year of so. Last week the U.S. pricing was unveiled for the HTC Vive, and it wasn’t an easy pill to swallow, at $799 it is $200 more expensive than the Oculus Rift. But what about the international pricing for the HTC Vive? Well, I’m afraid it doesn’t make for pleasant viewing either.
Before we get to the global pricing, let’s take a look at what the HTC Vive pre-order bundle includes:
- HTC Vive headset
- Two controllers
- 3 Games: Job Simulator, Fantastic Contraption, and Google’s Tilt Brush
Bearing in mind the HTC Vive’s U.S. pre-order price is $799, let’s take a look at how much international buyers will pay for the device:
- Australia -US$899
- Canada – CAD1149
- China – CNY6,888
- Taiwan – NT$28,288
- Japan – JPY111,999
- United Kingdom – £689
- New Zealand – US$949
- European Union – €899
As you can see, it isn’t cheap for anyone to pre-order, anywhere. It is important to remember that the HTC Vive is a new device, and as such, the early adopters will, as always, pay through the nose to own such a new device. The question you have to ask yourself is, how much cold, hard cash you are willing to pay to experience virtual reality.
Pre-orders for the Vive opened a little while ago, with shipping scheduled to commence on April 5th. Let us know in the comments below if you are going pre-order the HTC Vice.
