Slack already has a pretty solid presence in the business landscape, but a leaked roadmap shows they’re planning on adding more useful features to the chat service to make it even more compelling over competitors. The two biggest features in the upcoming months? Voice and video chatting.

Slack currently offers a simple and effective way of keeping up with a team and collaborating on projects, so being able to quickly turn a text chat into a voice or video chat is incredibly useful. Slack already uses Skype to make voice calls, but being able to do everything within Slack’s own environment would be a huge boon to productivity.

The company wants to have the feature rolled out to desktops in April, with mobile devices following soon afterwards.

And while those two things are huge additions, Slack is also planning on improving their service in other ways, too. The text editor is getting some tweaks, and Shared Channels are going to be at the center of the Slack experience.

It’ll be a few months until we actually see these things hit the apps we’re using, but if you or your business uses Slack, you should be pretty excited.
