Despite previous reports of record-breaking pre-orders worldwide, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge sales are disappointing in the company’s homeland of South Korea.
The news comes from Business Korea who discovered that the Galaxy S7 duo has sold less pre-orders than previous models. This struck us as shocking because of the promotion that comes when you pre-order one of the two flagship handsets. Just like in the United States, Samsung has offered all customers who purchase either of the two handsets a Gear VR headset free of charge.
Unfortunately, the offer doesn’t sound like it changed many people’s minds to buy a Galaxy S7. The good news is that Market Watchers believe people no longer favor the pre-order system and would much rather purchase the handset on launch day, scheduled for this Friday. They also added that some people feel hesitant and want to make sure no problems or callbacks occur. Others feel that they can get a better deal if they wait.
There’s also the theory that people are less hungry for high-end costly flagship smartphones. Nowadays there are so many mid-rangers that satisfy people’s needs that come at a lower price tag. There’s also the idea that people want to wait for LG’s new G5 flagship to see which is their favorite of the two.
If you’re still deciding on whether or not to upgrade, check out this roundup written by a member of our team or read our comparison between the Galaxy S7 and LG G5.
