The team behind ‘video selfie’ app Masquerade has joined Facebook to bring its fun technology to even more people around the world.
News that Masquerade’s makers have teamed up with the social media giant was made official today, and the move will undoubtedly see a massive surge in the number of users checking out the mobile app.
Masquerade CEO Eugene Nevgen said that video communication is ‘exploding’ as he announced the deal, adding that the mobile app will stay up and running despite the changes in management behind the scenes.
Speaking over on the Masquerade website, Nevgen said:
“At Masquerade, we’ve worked hard to make video more fun and engaging by creating filters that enhance and alter your appearance. Now, we’re excited to join forces with Facebook and bring the technology to even more people.”
Within Facebook, we’re going to be able to reach people at a scale like never before. For starters, we’ll be able to bring our technology to Facebook’s audience of nearly 1.6 billion people. This is a scale of audience we never imagined was possible.”
The application for selfie addicts is free to download over on the Play Store, and users can try on a number of hilarious celebrity masks and face-warping effects.
After you’ve snapped a picture of yourself looking silly, it’s easy to share that picture to social media sites and make your mates chuckle.
It goes without saying that Facebook’s global influence is vast, so we’re looking forward to seeing how the social media group will be working alongside Masquerade’s team.
