A new version of Netflix for Android is rolling out from the Play Store, but only to those who signed up for the beta channel.
As you might be familiar with, watching a single TV episode on Netflix can take up 400MB and higher. Even higher if you decide to go on a binge watching spree! That’s why Netflix is testing out a new mobile data saver feature, which basically lowers the bandwidth availability when not on a Wi-Fi connection.
This beta is also testing out a new Play Store billing feature. In other words, subscriptions inside the application itself are on the way. We’re not sure what affect that will have on pricing, or if Netflix plans on keeping it the same. It wouldn’t be a surprise if there was a slight bump, considering that the Play Store takes a 30% chunk of money from every transaction.
Testing either of these features is impossible right now, as Netflix isn’t taking anymore beta testers, it seems. On the other hand, if you want to take it for a test run, you can grab the APK download below; however, we can’t promise that you won’t come across any bugs or app-breaking features.
