Earlier this year news came out that Uber’s testing of a food delivery service in Toronto appeared to be successful as the company was planning to expand to at least 10 new markets. Those tests relied on the Uber app itself to make food deliveries happen, but the company realized a dedicated app was needed. Today Uber announced they have released the new UberEATS app for both Android and iOS along with the service being available in five markets initially.

To get things cooking, Uber is making UberEATS’ deliveries available in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and they will continue in Toronto. Unlike the test that limited available times to dinner, customers can place an order seven days a week, day and night. Uber indicates the service will be launching soon in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, New York, Seattle and Washington, DC in the U.S. In addition, Melbourne and Paris will also be getting access to UberEATS.

Besides being able to place an order for some food delivery, the UberEATS app includes menus from local restaurants, an Instant Delivery menu of curated options that can be ready in as little as 10 minutes, and searches by either restaurant or cuisine to help users answer the question, “what are you hungry for?” Users will also be able to track their food delivery in real time so they will know just when to step outside to meet their Uber courier.

If you are in one of the areas with service, hit the download link below if you are ready to place an order using the new UberEATS app. The rest of us can check out the app, but we will have to wait for Uber to get things cooking in our locations.
