Since partnering up with Google to produce the Nexus 6P, Huawei has moved from being a somewhat exotic smartphone maker from China to a mainstream manufacturer. The Chinese company is holding a launch event in London on April 6th, where it’s thought that it will take the wraps off its latest flagship, the P9. Meanwhile, the Chinese retailer, Oppomart, has today revealed the possible specifications of not only the P9 but also the P9 Lite and P9 Max.
According to Oppomart, the Huawei P9 features a Full HD 5.2-inch display and will sport the manufacturers own processor, the HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor (octa-core, 64-bit), 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There’s a dual 12MP camera setup with OIS on the rear of the handset, with dual-LED and laser focus, and a 5MP camera on the front of the device. Providing the juice is a 3,000mAh battery. The Huawei P9 is listed with a $499 price tag.
The P9 Lite appears to be firmly in the mid-range level, carrying a 5-inch Full HD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. On the rear is the dual 12MP camera with OIS, dual-LED and laser focus, while there’s a 5MP camera on the front of the device. The P9 Lite has a 2,500mAh battery and is listed with a $299 tag.
Finally, we get to the P9 Max, the high-end variant of the P9 family if Oppomart’s listing is to be trusted. The handset is endowed with a whopping 6.2-inch QHD display (2560 x 1440), powered by Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 955 processor Octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM and has 64GB of internal storage. The P9 Max also sports a dual 12MP camera setup with OIS, dual-LED and laser focus, with an 8MP selfie camera on the front of the device.
Oddly, considering the P9 Max’s increase in size over the standard P9, it only has a 3,000mAh battery. That may not be an issue, though, as Huawei knows how to optimize power consumption on its devices. As you might expect with such an increase in specifications over the two lesser models, the P9 Max’s price tag is a tad higher, coming in at $699 according to the product listing.
All models are said to feature a metal design (as previously leaked), global 4G compatibility, Dual-SIM support, a rear fingerprint scanner, and will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI overlay on top.
There isn’t too long to wait until Huawei’s launch event in London on April 6th, and we’ll be there to cover it in person. In the meantime, what do you think of the alleged specifications of the P9, P9 Lite and P9 Max?
