Sony announced today that the PlayStation VR will be available starting in October of this year.

Sony calls the PlayStation VR a new system that will take a PlayStation 4 and bring it into the “next level of immersion.” It’s similar to the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive in that the PlayStation VR is a headset, but it’s unique in that Sony isn’t requiring that you have a high-end PC. In fact, all you need is the PlayStation 4 sitting in your living room.

There are over 230 developers and publishers working on virtual reality titles for the headset, according to a press release from Sony. More excitingly, Electronic Arts and Dice are hard at work preparing an exclusive Star Wars: Battlefront title for the virtual reality experience.

Sony hasn’t mentioned release dates for any titles yet, but did say that The Playroom VR by SCE WWS will be available as a free download to all PlayStation VR owners alongside the headset’s launch.

The company says that the PlayStation VR will make an official launch in October 2016 for Japan, North America, and Europe. It will sell for 44,980 yen, $399, €399 and £349, respectively.

We’ll hear more availability details and possibly even some pre-order incentives as we get closer to the headset’s launch.
