The watchmaker Nixon just announced their very first Android Wear smartwatch called The Mission.
The Mission is a new Android Wear timepiece built to withstand just about anything that comes its way. It’s shock-resistant and water-resistant, allowing the timepiece to be submerged 100m below the surface of water. Instead of focusing on everyday sports such as walking, jogging, and running, the Mission’s major focus is on sports like surfing, snowboarding, and skiing. Built-in software extras and pre-loaded apps provide real-time results from these sports. Some of this information is stored right on the watch face, which can be viewed with just a quick glance or flick of the wrist.
The timepiece is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset and features a Gorilla Glass 4 front display for an extra durability. Nixon says that the smartwatch will be available in several colors and offer dozens of interchangeable band options. The Mission is scheduled to hit shelves sometime this Fall. Pricing is expected to be $400 USD.
