The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus are finally here. After hearing rumors and seeing leaks for many months, the pair is now official.
The R9 and R9 Plus are Oppo’s latest and greatest flagships for the 2016 year. The Oppo R9 is the smaller of the two at 5.5-inches in size. The dimensions are 151.8mm x 74.3mm x 6.6mm. The R9 Plus’ screen is 6-inches and the full body dimensions are 163.1mm x 80.8mm x 7.4mm. Both feature an identical design made of nearly all metal. Each will come in a variety of colors including pink, white, and gold.
Both R9 models have a display filled of a Full HD resolution. The R9 is powered by the Helio P10 processor. As for the Oppo R9 Plus, it uses the Snapdragon 652 processor from Qualcomm. Both the R9 and R9 Plus have 4GB of RAM, which will make for a smooth multitasking experience. The R9 sports a 16MP rear-facing camera and a lesser 13MP front-facing camera. The R9 Plus houses a 16MP Sony IMX sensor on the rear and a similar 16MP camera on the front.
The Oppo R9 packs 64GB of internal storage, while those who purchase the R9 Plus will have the option of getting 128GB of onboard memory. The R9 Plus will also pack a larger battery capacity of 4,120mAh, while the R9 contains only a 2,850mAh one. Both are sealed inside and cannot be swapped out. Both R9 models run the company’s own ColorOS on top of Android.
The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus will launch in China and may make way to other countries soon after, although there has been no word on which will receive it. Oppo has announced the price tags as well, which are rather high for a smartphone produced in China. The R9 costs 2799 Yuan or approximately $430 USD. The R9 Plus 64GB variant is set at 3299 Yuan, which is equivalent to about $510 USD. Both will hit shelves on April the 12th.
