New reports coming out of Korea indicate Samsung may be accelerating the standard release schedule for the next device in their Galaxy Note line of mobile devices. Sources are claiming that Samsung intends to launch the Galaxy Note 6 in mid-July, which is less than one year after the Galaxy Note 5 was launched in August 2015.
In addition to the change to the launch schedule for a Galaxy Note device, sources also indicate the Galaxy Note 6 will come loaded with Android N out of the box. The potential for the device to have Google’s most current update to the Android operating system is a benefit of Google’s aggressive schedule in already releasing a developer preview of Android N. Although it is unclear how much attention Google may give to the Android N release at Google I/O in May, odds seem good they may make it official at that time. If Samsung can get Android N onto the Galaxy Note 6 in time for a mid-July release, that will only be a couple months passed between the system’s official release and a new device being on the market.
Thus far detailed specs for the Galaxy Note 6 are rather scant. Sources have suggested the smartphone may get a slight bump in screen size and could come with 6GB of RAM onboard. In addition, Samsung recently started production of 256GB internal memory chips and the stylus-equipped Galaxy Note 6 could have that available as an option.
Sources indicate the Galaxy Note 6 project is codenamed Grace, so we will keep an eye out for any information surfacing for a device with that name.
