You may not have heard of the Zopo Speed 8, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t going to try to be your next smartphone. It’s advertised as the world’s first deca-core phone utilizing the MediaTek Helio-X20 CPU with 10 processing cores, and it’ll cost you less than $300.

The pre-orders are now open for the Speed 8 at only $279, which is pretty aggressively priced for what you get. There’s a USB type-C connector and a fingerprint scanner, checking off boxes that’s usually reserved for very high-end phones. There’s 4 GB of RAM paired with its zippy processor, and 32 GB of internal storage, so it’s certainly no slouch in the specs department.

The speed isn’t just in the processing area here, though, since the Speed 8 uses a 21 megapixel Sony camera sensor that can focus in just 0.2 seconds. That’s the kind of thing we expect from phones that cost twice as much.

To top everything off, you’ll get a 5.5-inch full HD display and a 3600 mAh battery with fast charging. It ships with Android 6.0 out of the box, and they didn’t cut NFC out of the mix. The only thing this phone doesn’t have is wireless charging and waterproofing, but that’s hardly commonplace with even high-end phones.

The only catch here is that it only supports LTE bands 1, 3, 7, and 20. That might be a dealbreaker for many potential customers in the US, but it’s bound to be a hit elsewhere.
