A listing on the Taobao retail site for a replacement cover for the HTC 10 appears to have provided the Internet rumor mill with several images of the upcoming HTC flagship. Depending on how accurate and legitimate the listing was, HTC may not have much to reveal in terms of design when they launch the HTC 10 on April 12th during an online event. The Taobao site has taken down the bulk of the listing for now, notably the images, but in true Internet fashion they were already captured and are spreading so you can check them out below.
One of the new “features” that HTC has highlighted in recent teasers for the HTC 10 is the possible return of BoomSound. Thus far the images that have been spotted do not seem to support the speakers we are used to seeing from HTC and this new batch does not really help with the matter. We do see a speaker grill on the bottom edge of the casing for the device, probably for some bass assuming it is working in conjunction with speakers located on the front of the device.
One detail that the shots do appear to support is the presence of a USB type-C port. If accurate, this move by HTC to transition to USB type-C would be consistent with changes we are seeing for top-end devices this year. HTC is already running with the pack of top-tier smartphones thanks to inclusion of a Snapdragon 820 processor in the HTC 10.
In the past, HTC typically has not provided an easy way to replace the battery in their devices despite having removable back covers. Looking at the images, there are no apparent battery contacts visible, so the HTC 10 may be similar to previous models.
In addition to these images of what the exterior of the physical device may look like, we also have some wallpapers that will be loaded on the HTC 10.
Is anyone getting excited about the latest smartphone from HTC?
