For all owners of last year’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge on Big Red, we’ve got some good news. Google’s latest Android 6.0.1 update it inbound!
Android 6.0.1 is heading to the Verizon Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung’s flagship duo from early last year. The update began rolling out late last week in waves. All owners should get the notification to update within the next few days. If you haven’t gotten it yet, try going into your device settings under ‘About Phone’ and ‘software updates.’
We recommend that you connect your device to a Wi-Fi network prior to downloading and installing. Considering that this is Google’s major overhaul of the year, it will come at a large size. Additionally, make sure you have enough space on your device prior to starting. The reason we say this is because frequently, Galaxy owners with a base storage model don’t realize how much space they’re actually taking up. In fact, carrier and manufacturer pre-installed apps can take up a good chunk of your space.
The newest software version is MMB29K.G920VVRU4CPC2. It will bring all of the latest features from both Samsung and Google including doze mode for battery saving, Now On Tap for contextual awareness, and simplified app permissions to keep you in control of your data.
