Huawei launched its P9 and P9 Plus flagships at an event held in London yesterday, placing a lot of emphasis on its partnership with camera maker, Leica and their intentions to ‘reinvent smartphone photography’. That’s all well and good, but when can you, the consumer, get your hands on a P9 or P9 Plus in the UK from your favourite network? Join us after the break for more details.
Understandably, details on pricing and availability are still a little scarce, but the 4 major networks (soon to be 3) have all indicated that they will offer at least one of Huawei’s new handsets.
EE has only stated that it will carry the 5.2-inch P9. As yet there are no details on price, nor when it will be available but EE has said to expect more information soon. In the meantime, you can register your interest for the P9 on the network here.
Three UK is also only offering the 5.2-inch P9, once again there are no details on pricing or availability, although the network provider will throw in a 6-month subscription to the Deezer music streaming service.
O2 is one of two UK networks to commit to offering both the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus. It looks like O2 will only be offering the 64GB/4GB version of the 5.2-inch P9 in a single color – Titanium Grey and you can register your interest for the handset here. If you prefer the 5.5-inch P9 Plus, you’ll be able to choose from either Ceramic White or Quartz Grey. You can register your interest for the P9 Plus here.
Finally, Vodafone UK will also offer both the P9 and P9 Plus handsets. The P9 can be pre-order the grey P9 from today (here), or in silver from April 11th. pre-orders for either color P9 will come with a free Huawei W1 Classic Smartwatch (leather strap version) running Android Wear worth £289. £30 a month gets you unlimited texts, unlimited minutes and 2GB of data on a two-year contract, or there’s the Red Value option that offers unlimited minutes and texts, 4GB of data and a choice of either 6 months free access to Sky Sports Mobile TV, Spotify Premium or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass. There’s no word on when the P9 Plus will be available on the network as yet, but it is a case of when, and not if, it will become available.
