The Moto X Pure Edition is an all around great device, but it isn’t without its problems. A subreddit devoted to the handset has uncovered what seems to be a widespread problem with the phone’s display driver.
It first started with one user posting a picture of his Moto X Pure Edition, asking what the gray band was around the navigation buttons. It turns out that the problem is with the display driver, and many other owners are actually having similar problems.
In fact, when Talk Android’s Justin Herrick was reviewing the handset, his model had that display issue happening all over the screen, not just behind the navigational buttons.
According to many reports on the subreddit, it seems that a restart or even a factory reset solves the problem, at least for a little while. Even after a factory reset, many are complaining that the issue reappears after a short while.
This really doesn’t seem to be a hardware issue, especially since the factory reset seems to fix it for a short while. It appears to be more of a software issue, which Motorola might already be aware of if this has been going on for some time now. The real question is, when will see a fix?
There’s no telling at this point. Motorola or Lenovo haven’t addressed the problem in the slightest. That said, a fix could already be in the works, or maybe that’ll be packaged into the future Android 6.0.1 update. Who knows, but at this point, Moto X Pure users are left in the dark as to what to do.
Hopefully Motorola or Lenovo will shed some light on this problem shortly.
