What you probably didn’t know about the new LG G5 is that the phone supports 360-degree wallpapers for a truly immersive experience without the need for an special external device like a virtual reality headset. These special experiences are accessible right on the home screen of the G5. Pre-installed on the phone are two 360-degree wallpapers, but LG has a lot more waiting for you in its LG SmartWorld app.
Hit the break to see how to get a 360-degree wallpaper on the G5.
- Go to the LG SmartWorld site
- Head into the LG SmartWorld Apps page
- Select your region and then your preferred language
- Download the LG SmartWorld app
- Launch the app and swipe from the left to get the menu
- Choose 360 wallpaper under the Customization section
- Download and install a wallpaper that catches your eye
- Go home and long-press on the home screen; choose Wallpapers
- Select Live wallpapers and go into the 360-degree wallpaper section
- Decide which 360-degree wallpaper to use
- Alter settings to enable a 3D perspective or gesture scrolling
- Once applied, hit the home button and check out your new 360-degree wallpaper
Live wallpapers were once a staple of Android, but the flashiness of them has really gone away. LG is being creative by giving G5 owners these 360-degree wallpapers that can be windows to different parts of the world. The catch, because there always is one, is that a 360-degree wallpaper will work your phone’s processor and battery a little more since it’s always active.
