Lenovo’s CEO, Yang Yuanqing, has given us some information regarding the company’s upcoming successor to last year’s Moto G. The handset seems a bit far away still, especially considering the fact we’re yet to see model numbers leak. However, the handset will apparently launch at an event on June 9. “The new product will nothing less than exciting,” that was the only other comment Yuanqing added.
We’ve seen several leaks surface in the past few days of what appears to be a new Moto G model, most presumably the successor to last year’s. Believe it or not, we still don’t know what it will be called. Rumors include Moto G (2016), Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. There’s also a chance that we see two different Moto G variants announced this year, which would be a first for the company.
One can expect to see a similar priced handset featuring a slightly refined design. Specifications should also get a slight boost, but nothing super high-end is expected. Let’s just hope that the next Moto G lives up to the expectations set by Yuanqing and keeps the pricing pattern of its predecessors. As we approach June 9, we should find out more on the handset, and if this is what we’ll be seeing at the event. Whether it is or isn’t, we’ll be on the scene to see what they have to show us.
