Google surprised us all today with the release of MODE bands for Android Wear watches.
Google introduced new MODE watch bands today that’ll work with select Android Wear smartwatches. The purpose of the bands are to make swapping them easier. Each includes a new mechanism Google is calling ‘snap and go.’ It takes just a push and pull of the band and you’re on your way.
The new MODE bands have already been made available from retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon. Google is also selling them on its own online store, the Google Store. The MODE bands come in two different textures, leather and silicone. Each will be available in 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm sizes. Note however that not all Android Wear watches are compatible. The MODE bands also come in a wide-range of colors.
Leather bands retail for $59 while silicone bands cost slightly less at $49. Each MODE band will come with a pair of bar pins and a tool for getting started. You can view the options along with how the mechanism works in the embedded videos below.
