A couple of weeks after the launch of the HTC 10, the Taiwanese company has taken the wraps off a new handset for the European market with mid-range components. The new handset is called the HTC One S9 and comes with a €499 ($564) price tag.

The One S9 has a 5-inch Full HD Super-LCD display with 443ppi and Gorilla Glass protection. Inside, there’s a MediaTek X10 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and 2GB of RAM for multitasking. There’s 16GB of internal storage along with MicroSD support for cards up to 2TB. A 13MP camera resides on the rear with OIS and dual-LED flash, while the front camera has a 2MP UltraPixel sensor with BSI. The eagle-eyed reader will have spotted the front speakers, which are indeed BoomSound speakers.

A 2,840mAh non-removable battery stores the juice. Unlike the HTC 10, the One S9 doesn’t feature a fingerprint scanner (although NFC is supported), and as such, there isn’t a physical home button either, with navigation controls moving back to the on-screen buttons. Like the HTC 10, the One S9 will launch running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

Priced at €499($564) in Germany, Is it just a tad too expensive for what it has to offer? What do you think of the HTC One S9? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
