Just recently we heard that HTC would be in charge of the next wave of Nexus smartphones. One of the two handsets rumored may be a successor to last year’s Nexus 6P made by Huawei.
A Nexus 6P variant underwent a test on Geekbench yesterday, posting some impressive scores. The scores are far out of range from what the current Nexus 6P is able to produce, therefore it must be a different model.
This version of the Nexus 6P packs a Snapdragon 820 instead of the 810 on the present Nexus 6P. It also gets a RAM boost from 3GB to 4GB. The only remaining detail we have from the listing is that the handset ran Android N when it underwent the test. It’s reasonable to think that this will be the successor to last year’s Nexus 6P, which was made by Huawei. This year’s iteration could very well be manufactured by HTC, who produced the Nexus 9 tablet from two years ago. There’s also the chance that this will just be a hardware refresher of the current Nexus 6P, and will be made by Huawei again. Maybe this is the Nexus 7P and there just trying to hide it.
Either way, we could learn more at Google’s annual developer conference scheduled to begin on the 18th of May.
