Google Wallet is slowly being phased out in favor of Google’s new payment transaction service, Android Pay. The transportation service Uber is among the first to make the switch.
Uber has had Google Wallet support for quite some time, but now that the service is being phased out for Android Pay, why not stay up to date and make the switch. As you may recall, Android Pay is not only for tap-and-pay transactions, but can also be used for in-app online purchases.
Soon, passengers who travel using the Uber transportation service will be able to give payment using Android Pay. Users will be able to login to Android Pay through the Uber app. Once you have valid credit and debit cards setup on the wireless payment service, you’ll be able to use them to carry out Uber payments.
Google Wallet support on Uber will be no more as of May 9th. At the same time, Android Pay will become available. The default card you’d like to use can be configured in the Uber app’s settings. Uber members should get an email like the one below giving details on the move.
