While this feature may not be favorable by everyone, it’s arriving whether you like it or not.
Android users are beginning to see an ‘Up Next’ autoplay feature arrive in the YouTube app, which is similar to what’s present on the web. When a video you’re watching on YouTube in a browser concludes, you’ll notice a new video will start playing if you don’t act. A loading icon pops up that slowly fills until you click replay, if you don’t and the icon fills, YouTube will automatically start playing another video. Sometimes this can be a video similar to the one you just played. If you’re video is in a playlist such as ‘favorites’ or ‘watch later,’ it’ll move ahead to the next available video in the playlist.
The feature appears to be coming to mobile, starting with the Android version of the YouTube application. According to a screenshot from a member of Google+, users will have the option to turn this feature off. Not everyone is seeing the feature right now, so it’s probably rolling out slowly. Let us know if your YouTube app has the option in the comments below.
