Motorola shattered the meaning of “mid-range” with the Moto G (2015) last year. In 2016, the Lenovo-owned brand really has its work cut because of the bar being set so high. And it’s seeming like the world will be impressed once again. Two phones — the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus — could launch at the same time with specifications even better than before, giving consumers even more options for the Moto G (2016).
What was just spotted on Zauba? Devices believed to be the next phones built by Lenovo under the Moto name. The Indian import and export database revealed the specs we’re likely to see sometime soon.
Hit the break for details.
If Zauba’s information is to be believed, this is what you can expect from the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus:
- 2GB / 3GB of RAM
- 16GB / 32GB of internal storage
- 13MP / 16MP rear camera (depending on model)
- 5MP front-facing camera
It’s almost certain that the more powerful Moto G4 Plus will also ship with a fingerprint scanner. Lenovo did say in January that fingerprint scanners would be featured on all future Moto devices.
The next mid-range device(s) from Motorola should launch on May 17 in India. We haven’t received any invite for a press event in the United States, but it wouldn’t be surprising if New Delhi was the sole location for the launch because of Motorola’s popularity in emerging markets. Other signs indicate the next Moto G could debut on June 9, but that could be for a press event focusing on the next Moto X.
