T-Mobile has agreed to an interconnect and roaming deal with Cuba that will make it easier to call and text people in Cuba, as well as help out those that are planning to travel to Cuba with a T-Mobile phone and service. T-Mobile follows Sprint and Verizon, both of which have deals with Cuba in place already.
T-Mobile has a fairly strong hold on markets close to Cuba, including places like Miami. It also happens to be the most requested addition to their international roaming packages on social media, which might have to do with T-Mobile’s stronger presence in places near Cuba or with many Cuban-born citizens.
Roaming and international calls are still expensive, so you if you’re interested you’ll need to pony up an extra $15 per month and $0.60 per minute when calling Cuba. That’s cheaper than it was before, (and still quite a bit cheaper than Verizon’s exorbitant rates) but it’s still pricey. If you’re travelling to Cuba, you’ll now be able to use voice, text, and data like you would under any of T-Mobile’s other international plans.
