In a move that isn't entirely unexpected but is still somewhat shocking considering that the company is typically a creature of habit, Apple on Tuesday morning added new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models to its smartphone lineup.
The Apple store was taken offline early on Tuesday morning, as we all expected. Apple warned on its system status website that the store would be taken offline beginning around midnight EDT on Tuesday morning, though the reason for the outage was unclear. Rumors suggested that several new iPad models might be announced on Tuesday morning, and that indeed turned out to be the case. Apple's new 9.7-inch iPad wasn't the only new product unveiled on Tuesday morning, however.
