The Chromecast is one cool device, but one of the more underrated things that it does is display some really awesome photographs as wallpapers. Google takes images from the some of the greatest photographers and displays them whenever your Chromecast is idle as in “Ready to Cast.” Wouldn’t it be cool to utilize these wallpapers on your phone, tablet, or even your desktop? Well you can and it’s really easy.
Many people have posted various live feeds that the Chromecast uses to grab the wallpaper images, but the problem with that is the majority of them are 720p (1280 x 720). What you really want is the full resolution, and of course, without any writing on them. Thanks to Deirdre Connolly’s GitHub page, you can download any or all of the Chromecast wallpapers used in the past or is being used presently. There are over a 100 of them at the time of this post.
Just hit the source link below and the entire catalog of images will be displayed. If you like a particular image, just right click on it and select “Save Image As” (in Chrome) to save it to your desktop. If you want to download all images on the page at once, you can grab the Chrome Extension “Image Downloader” (assuming you are using Chrome). After you have installed it, just open the “Image Downloader” extension while you are on the GitHub page and wait till the images appear in the popup box. Check the box next to “All” towards the top, then click Download.
You can also download images directly to your phone or tablet by going to the source link below in your browser of choice. Then long press on any images you want to save and select “Save Image.”
