Guest Justin Herrick Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Converting your home into a smart home is starting to gain some steam. Many companies are releasing products that convert everyday products into smart ones. The latest entrant is Honeywell with its smart thermostat Lyric. It will be released in August and carry a $279 price tag. Honey will release companion applications for Android and iOS devices that will work with both smartphones and tablets. The app will let users control Lyric from a mobile device. For the actual piece of hardware, Lyric uses geofencing to enter a power saving mode when there is no one present in the home. Upon returning home, Lyric will start adjusting the temperature based on how the user prefers it. Honeywell implemented a feature into Lyric called Fine Tuning that fine tunes the temperature based upon outdoor/indoor temperature, humidity, and the weather forecast. Hit the break for a video.
