If you don’t know what I mean, just search “What’s the weather?” and you’ll find a nice-looking card with the current temperature, precipitation, humidity levels, wind speed as well as the week’s forecast. Similar cards appear for various queries, including sports data. Now, Google has added some really great looking cards for World Cup information, including team lineups before matches, schedules/brackets, standings, stats, and even a timeline of plays from the game. Just search “World Cup” or “World Cup USA” and you’ll see what I mean. You can even set your favorite team in Google Now so you don’t have to keep searching every time you want an update. Your information will be right there with a simple swipe of your screen. Google is also enhancing Google Trends and is letting users see what other people are searching during the World Cup. You can use that information to enhance your watching experience — just go to google.com/worldcup. Google also is letting users take a look inside all of the World Cup stadiums in Brazil using its Street View technology. This is all great news coming from Google, and let’s hope this kind of awesome coverage continues into other sporting and world events as well.
