Guest Justin Herrick Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 This evening in New York City, Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Tab S. The tablet comes with either an 8.4-inch or 10.5-inch display. Being that Samsung makes the tablet, both sizes come with a Super AMOLED display. The resolution is 2560×1600 with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Galaxy Tab S uses Adaptive Display to make adjustments depending upon the viewing environment. And to ensure that incredible display does not drain the battery (4900 or 7900mAh), Samsung included Ultra-Power Saving Mode. Hit the break for the full Galaxy Tab S breakdown. Both sizes of the Galaxy Tab S will ship with either an octa-core Exynos 5 or quad-core Snapdragon 800 depending upon your market. Bundled with the processor is 3GB of RAM. Also found with both sizes are identical cameras. The front facing facing camera is 2.1MP and the back has a 8MP camera. Behind Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is Android 4.4 KitKat. And if the 16GB/32GB of internal storage is not enough, there is a microSD card slot to bring in an additional 128GB. With any Samsung tablet, productivity is key. One of the unique features found within the Galaxy Tab S is its Call Forwarding. Thanks to SideSync 3.0, users can make and answer phone calls right from the tablet. The smartphone just has to be relatively close to the tablet. So now while web browsing or watching a video, you don’t have to switch devices for such a small task. To further ensure your productivity, Samsung threw in a Remote PC trial that spans across two years. Aside from this, they threw in plenty of ‘Galaxy Gifts’ from more than thirty content and service providers. The design of the Galaxy Tab S is very familiar. The design language is identical to the Galaxy S 5. The back panel has the same look and likely feel (but we’ll know more about that after some hands on time). The home button even includes the same fingerprint scanner. Accessories for the Galaxy Tab S include the Book Cover, Simple Cover, and Bluetooth Keyboard. The Book Cover provides multiple angles to position the device for an appropriate viewing experience. The Simple Cover is… simple. It provides light protection for the front and back of the tablet. And the Bluetooth Keyboard is another tool for people that really have to maximize productivity.
