Guest Jared Peters Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 We’ve seen a few leaks of T-Mobile’s new Samsung Galaxy Avant, but it looks like it may play a role in the Uncarrier 5.0 event coming up. We know T-Mobile plans on simplifying carrier pricing, but they may begin pushing for an easy way to unlock devices, too. According to someone with an early Galaxy Avant unit, the device comes with an application from T-Mobile that puts the device through a carrier-unlocking process, then disappears on the next reboot. The tester tried out a Verizon sim card in the Avant, and it worked without a hitch. To top off the rumors, T-Mobile’s customer care are no longer taking unlock requests for devices. Funny coincidence, right? T-Mobile has a great track record of consumer-friendly practices, and an easy unlock method for devices fits the bill perfectly. Their Uncarrier event is in just a few days, so we should know pretty soon. source: TmoNews Come comment on this article: T-Mobile Galaxy Avant may come preloaded with carrier-unlocking app Visit TalkAndroid for Android news, Android guides, and much more!
