Custom watch face apps for Android Wear now appearing in the Play Store

When Google released the Android Wear SDK, it was our understanding that developers wouldn’t have the ability to create custom watch faces. However, a couple of apps have shown up in the Play Store that do just that.

 

Then first one is called ACW Watchface [beta] and is just a very simple watch face.

Another one, called Band O’Clock for Wear, takes it up a notch. It allows you to change the fonts of the clock as well as pick any image from the Gallery as the background.

I’m not sure how these developers were able to pull it off, but I did test them on the G Watch.

 

Hopefully this means we will see more custom watch face designs hit the Play Store in the coming days.
