Just yesterday, former Google X director Babak Parviz announced he was leaving Google to work for Amazon. Since he’s left, Google has already announced a partnership with pharmaceutical giant Novartis to commercialize Google’s smart contact lens technology, one of Parviz’s main projects. In case you forgot, the lenses, which were announced back in January, they analyze tear fluid to provide blood glucose level measurements — the data is sent to the user’s smartphone (or smartwatch) to help diabetics manage the disease better. Of course we have no idea when the technology will be available to the public, or even how expensive it might be, so stay tuned for all that information in the coming months.
