The first aspect that’s new for GPG is the fact that players can send in-game items as gifts to other players. This can be done with people in your Google+ circles, or through a player search aspect. On top of that, GPG will feature 18 new categories that will make it easier for gamers to discover new games.

Besides those two features, Google is adding better multiplayer support with the ability to send multiplayer invites directly. Google is also adding multiplayer support for iOS, bringing both real-time and turn-based multiplayer capabilities to the platform. This, and cross-platform support will be achieved with a Play Games Unity plugin and an early Play Games C++ SDK.

Developers will now be able to see daily stats in the Google Play Developer Console. Developers will see a visual representation of player and engagement statistics, that include daily active users, retention, achievements, and leader board performance.

With Google holding a developer day tomorrow (March 18) it’s expected that we’ll see these new features in a lot more detail.
