Guest Robert Nazarian Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Do you like retro style arcade games? Well then you need to check out HeroCraft’s latest effort, Neon Commander. This game is kind of like Space Invaders meets Breakout. In this game, you will need to stop alien spaceships from taking down your city. In order to do that you will draw on the screen to bounce their shots back and hopefully hitting those enemies. This is called PlasmaShield technology. At the beginning of the game, you will draw simple lines that bounce the laserballs in the direction of the angle drawn. As you progress, you will find other shapes, like circles that force the laserballs to go in different directions. Along the way, you will find various alien spaceships, including boss ships. Each ship must be attacked differently. There are 32 levels in all, including 6 boss levels. I will say that this game is retro style, but it’s not old school style. In other words, you don’t start from the beginning every time you play. You complete levels along the way, and you are rated with the star system. You can progress with less than 3 stars, but certain levels won’t unlock until you achieve 3 stars in the previous levels. You will also find a side story, which is a little boring, but thankfully it’s not in your face. Overall, Neon Commander is pretty fun to play, and it’s not overly complicated to learn. HeroCraft is notorious for in-app purchases for power ups, but this game seems to only be limited to removing ads. You can do so for 99-cents, or choose either $5.00 or $10.00 if you really like the game and want to show a little extra appreciation.
