NVIDIA Shield successor shows up in benchmarks with Tegra K1 CPU and 4 GB of RAM

If these benchmarks are to be believed, NVIDIA is working on a follow-up to their portable Android gaming console, the NVIDIA Shield. The benchmark pegs the Shield successor with a Tegra K1 quad-core processor, and a whopping 4 GB of RAM. The K1 already has some extremely

impressive benchmarking and multitasking scores, so NVIDIA is definitely going for the absolute fastest components possible in this device.

 

The screen is nothing to write home about, with a resolution of 1440 x 810 (plus the on-screen Android navbar keys) just slightly higher than the original Shield’s 720p screen. Of course, since the processor only has to push a 720p screen instead of a 1080p or QHD screen, it should be able to run even the most demanding games without stuttering at all.

 

Other than that, you’ve got your basic 0.3 megapixel front facing camera, 16 GB of internal storage, and Android 4.4.2 on board. Hopefully NVIDIA sheds some light on this soon. With E3 right around the corner, maybe we won’t have to wait too long.
