Guest Jeff Causey Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Google has announced an expansion of their Google Shopping Express micro-delivery service to Manhattan and the West Los Angeles area. These join the San Francisco Bay area as locations with access to the service. Google indicates they plan to continue to expand to other areas around Los Angeles as well as Queens and Brooklyn in the New York City area. Google Shopping Express gives users the ability to place a same day order for certain goods from a variety of retailers. Rather than driving to a store yourself, Google handles the delivery chore for you, getting your item and bringing it to your doorstep or a designated drop-off point. Google does not mark-up the prices or impose any surcharges on products, though the service does require a membership fee. As part of this expansion, Google is offering a free six month trial on membership in the service. The free trial gives users access to unlimited same-day deliveries. To use the service, consumers do have to use their Google Wallet account to pay for goods. Google is also offering a $10 voucher to people living in the new markets if they make a purchase before the end of the day. Retailers includes a mix of local and national retail chains, including names like Costco, Guitar Center, Target, Toys”R”Us and Walgreens.
