Phonebloks, one of the partners helping Google with Project Ara, has released a new video today that shares a little bit about their dream of a more modular world. According to their video, Phonebloks sees the concept of modular components being extended to a variety of electronic devices like desktop computers, laptops, wearables like smart watches, and even home appliances. More than that, they see the modules being capable of getting swapped between different types of devices. According to Phonebloks, their work on Project Ara and the creation of a modular smartphone is just the starting point they chose.

Phonebloks also says they are not wed exclusively to Google and Project Ara. They are open to working with new partners, possibly supplying some companies working on competing devices to Project Ara, as they push to move the industry to more modular thinking. Phonebloks also took the opportunity to announce audio components company Sennheiser is on board to work on producing modules.

You can check out their video below explaining where Phonebloks would like to see the industry go.
