Guest Jeff Causey Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Earlier this week we reported on the codename “Flounder” surfacing in a Chromium issue tracker entry. The rumor was that this pointed to the release of an HTC produced Nexus tablet from Google. The recent release of a detailed changelog for Android 4.4.3 to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) seems to confirm the connection between HTC and the “Flounder” device as seen in the changelog entry. In the previous Flounder spotting, it was part of an apparent new build of Android, possibly 4.5. With the inclusion of the reference in the Android 4.4.3 changelog, this may point to the device being released initially on that version of Android. An upgrade to Android 4.5, assuming it is released this year, could be down the road a bit. Another device was spotted in the just released changelog going by the codename “Molly.” The item surfaces next to a reference to a set top box, which may indicate this is another media-streaming type device from Google. The changelog also includes some references to DRM and to chips-maker NVIDIA, suggesting a graphics or media-centric device. This could possibly be something similar to Apple’s FireTV set top box. source: Android Central Come comment on this article: Google’s “Flounder” codename surfaces in Android 4.4.3 changelog Visit TalkAndroid for Android news, Android guides, and much more!
