Samsung and Seagate partner to create $179 1.5 TB WiFi hard drive and battery

Samsung and Seagate are teaming up to create a mobile external storage solution to beat all other external storage solutions. The “Samsung Wireless” device is both a WiFi and USB hard drive and portable battery, and it contains a whopping 1.5 terabytes of storage.

The hard drive is set to for up to five mobile connections at one time via WiFi, and it will also work via the traditional USB 3.0 method. Not only that, but if you have a wireless router with a free USB port, you should be able to use this device in conjunction with it.

 

The battery capacity of the device is still unknown, but it will be able to power up and host files on its own battery for 7 hours.

The Samsung Wireless is a 1.5 TB wireless drive; it holds up to 750 movies, 375k MP3s, 425k photos or a combination of these multimedia or other type files. It supports Android® 2.3 or higher, Windows® 8/7/Vista/XP SP2, and Mac® OS X 10.6 or later. It has long battery life, up to 7 hours**. The Samsung Wireless can connect to other wireless networks to provide internet access in addition to local streaming. Up to 5 mobile devices can connect to it at once.
