The Toq smartwatch was released by Qualcomm as a way to show developers what their technology was capable of. It carried a massive $299 price tag. Other than price, the Toq received a fair amount of praise. A new report claims that Qualcomm will be aiming to power other wearables instead of manufacturing their very own.

At a press conference this week, Qualcomm CDMA Technologoes Taiwan president Eddie Chang said “This year, you will see wearable devices carrying Qualcomm chips.” While Chang did not give any details, he did say that developing wearable-specific processors are definitely a possibility if the market reaches a certain point in growth. Rather than sending the Toq out as a pricey representative of the possibilities, it looks like Qualcomm is keeping its presence on the inside of a wearable.
