Good news, Sony users!

If you have an Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR or an Xperia Tablet Z, you’re in luck. Your device will not only be receiving Android 4.4 in the coming days, but it will also get a multitude of other updates provided by Sony.

Hit the break for more details.

The launch animation and live wallpaper across the lock and home screens will match the interface on the PlayStation 4 — a nice touch. There is also a revamped Status Bar and Quick Settings, making options more intuitive and customizable.

All of Sony’s native apps will be automatically brought to their latest versions, among some new updates on apps including UI tweaks and bug fixes. The apps being updated are as follows: Messaging, Email, Smart Social Camera and Battery STAMINA Mode, which allows for powerful battery management.

Sony’s media apps, including Walkman and Album and Movies will be merged together with Sony Entertainment Network cloud service to provide a more complete experience. The UI has been changed as well and Sony is promising faster download speeds.

“Xperia Themes,” Sony’s unique custom interface experience, will also be installed with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select.

The devices will also be made compatible with Sony’s SmartWear Experience, including the SmartBand SWR10 and Lifelog app.

Sony also noted that the company will begin rolling out a similar update to the Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 (and dual variants) beginning in July.

This is all really great news for Sony users. Anyone already receive the update? Let us know in the comments below!
