Guest Harrison Kaminsky Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 While we had originally heard that the Moto 360 would cost €249 (around $340 USD), it’s looking more and more that the number associated with the euros (249) is actually how much the smartwatch will cost in USD. Straight from Motorola’s watch-face design competition’s rules, we saw yesterday that the “average retail value” for the phone will be $249. However, Motorola spoke up today after Moto 360 fan Michal Tajchert commented on the rumored price on Google+. “According to new +Motorola Mobility contest terms moto 360 will cost 249$ (probably without taxes). That is a nice price! #moto360 #androidWear” But then Motorola Mobility’s Google+ account had something to say in the comments section of his post… “Hi Michał. Thanks for your excitement around our Moto 360 Design Face-Off contest! We want to make clear that the ‘Approximate Retail Value’ (ARV) indicated in our rules is included for tax purposes only and should not be interpreted as the suggested retail price of the Moto 360 when it becomes available for purchase.” If the Moto 360 isn’t going to be exactly $249 at launch, we should still expect something close to that. This could even be Motorola trying to throw us off here and introducing an even cheaper price at launch. Motorola wants to make a huge splash with this device, and the company’s growing focus on affordable products could very easily hold true with the Moto 360. Only time will tell.
