Guest Robert Nazarian Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Lookout, one of the leaders in mobile device protection, just introduced Theft Alerts. Currently, only about 3 out of 10 stolen smartphones get returned to their rightful owner, but Theft Alerts will hopefully improve upon that. When someone steals your phone, there are always a few things that the thief does such as entering a passcode incorrectly, removing the SIM card, enabling airplane mode, turning off the device, and/or removing Lookout as administrator. A thief might attempt one or all of these, but Lookout will have you covered, by sending you alerts when any of these things happen. Now you might be saying, that you already do some of these things on your own so who wants extra alerts. Lookout will let you customize your Theft Alerts so that you don’t get notified for the things that you won’t want to be. Theft Alerts is already available as part the of the Premium package, which is $2.99 per month ($29.99 annually) for both Android and iOS. If you happen to already be a Free user (before today), you will get access to Theft Alerts through September 31, 2014. However, it won’t be available right away. Expect a notification in about 2 weeks telling you to set it up.
