Guest Jared Peters Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Many of you probably use Skype, since it’s one of the best cross-platform video chatting services available. Recently, Microsoft has been working on some new tech that will use Skype for real-time language translation across video chatting, which is pretty awesome. The initial demo of the Skype Translator beta managed to convert English to German in real-time without messing up the grammar and speech patterns of the language, which is a pretty rare thing to see in any translator. Microsoft talked a bit about this Skype Translator and plans to have a beta app out for Windows 8 by the end of 2014. After that happens, I don’t think it’ll take too long before we start seeing Skype Translator competing with Google Translate on mobile devices, Android devices included.
